ANNA MELVA
About The Artist
Welcome! It’s me Anna, and I couldn’t be happier that you stopped in to see what I’m all about! I’m a budding performer and creative born and raised in Edmonton, AB, Canada. I grew up writing and performing my own music, doing competitive dance, and found a love for theatre at a young age (my mother loves to tell the story of how I spent an entire production of Cinderella correcting the other four year olds on their lines). Recently I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BFA in Musical Theatre from The Hartt School and moved to NYC! (Literally 3 bucks, 2 bags, 1 me.) As an interdisciplinary artist, it has and will always be important to me not to put myself into a box, which is why all of my artistic endeavors can be found right here!

About The Artist
Some of my achievements in songwriting include winning the 2021 Write Out Loud Contest for my song "Year In Review", and a SOCAN Foundation-Sirius XM Youth Canadian Songwriter award for my single "Boys On Bikes" in 2022. As a versatile writer/performer, I love to experiment across styles such as pop, theatre, and indie-rock, but my favorite will always be folk. The evidence of my theatrical background is apparent in my lyrical storytelling, which is piercing and symbolic. Some of my favorite influences (who I hope to someday be compared to) include Phoebe Bridgers, Lorde, Beabadoobee, Taylor Swift, and the one and only Joni Mitchell. Have a look around the rest of the site, and don’t hesitate to reach out! I’d love to get to know you too!
